A LETTER FROM THE BOARD
During the past two years, the Seaside Institute has been busy planning and constructing the now complete Academic Village in the Seaside Lyceum. This facility will provide a unique place for those seeking knowledge in the fields of the arts, architecture and well-being.
The Academic Village, which was designed by architect Dhiru Thadani in collaboration with Andres Duany and Robert Davis, is comprised of seven refurbished Katrina cottages. Future plans for the village call for adding an outdoor kitchen and storage space and outfitting the courtyard with furniture so students, faculty and our guests can gather there to study, converse and share their meals.
To date, the Seaside Institute has raised $166,500 to pay for the installation and renovations of the cottages. We have set a goal to raise $60,000 to pay for outdoor furnishings (3 tables and 12 chairs) and to complete the kitchen and storage space during the next calendar year. To accomplish these goals, we need your support.
below you will find details about our “Pull Up a Chair” fundraiser. A donation of $500 will secure a beautiful teak chair for the village courtyard; a $1,000 donation will cover the cost of a table. Each item will be appointed with a bronze dedication plaque engraved with a name of your choosing. Cash donations of any amount are welcome and will be used to start a kitchen fund.
We hope that you will give what you can with the knowledge that your dollars and support are imperative in fostering our continued development and to fulfill our educational mission.
The Seaside Institute is a 501(c)3 organization.
